Are you experiencing issues with your device's vibrate mode and sound? Not feeling any vibrations when you pick up your phone? Look no further. Our team of technical experts have compiled a list of steps that can assist you in resolving these issues.
1. Verify your device's Silent and Vibrate modes
iOS Devices:
- Make sure your device is in the correct mode.
- Check that Silent mode is turned off:
- If your phone has a Ring switch, slide it forward to hide the orange bar.
- Alternatively, you can check Control Center to see if Silent mode is turned on.
- Ensure that "Do Not Disturb" mode is turned off:
- Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb and make sure it's turned off.
- If the issue is related to the vibrate mode:
- Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
- For older iPhones, go to Settings > Sounds.
- You can choose to have your phone vibrate when in Ring/Silent mode. If both settings are turned off, your phone won't vibrate.
- If the issue is related to the speaker mode:
- Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
- For older iPhones, go to Settings > Sounds.
- Slide the "Ringer and Alerts" slider back and forth a few times.
- If you still can't hear anything or if the speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is grayed out, proceed to the next step.
- If you can hear something, try making a call using the speakerphone or FaceTime on an iPad or iPod touch.
- If you hear crackling or can't hear anything, the issue may be related to your network. Try calling later in a different location.
Android Devices:
- Check the Silent mode:
- Go to Settings > Sounds.
- If the Silent Mode button is blue, click on it to turn it off. The button should be gray when it's turned off.
- Verify that the "Do not disturb" mode is off:
- Go to Settings > Sounds > Do not disturb.
- If the button is blue, click on it to turn it off. The button should be gray when it's turned off.
2 - Update your device's software
iOS Devices:
- Update your device's software directly on your smartphone:
- Back up your device with iCloud or on your computer.
- Plug your device into a power source and make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- You may see two software updates; choose the one you want to install.
Android Devices:
- Go to Settings > System > System update.
- You can see your update status and follow the on-screen instructions.
